Next Generation Sequencing

Leading the fight against tuberculosis through cutting-edge research and global collaboration.

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

Molecular biology techniques have transformed clinical diagnostics. According to WHO recommendations, many molecular tests are now considered routine methods in diagnostic laboratories worldwide. Among these, NGS stands out as one of the most promising and rapidly advancing molecular tests, endorsed by the WHO.

Approach:

Our approach is centered on fostering expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) through hands-on training, seamless technology integration, and rigorous quality assurance. We prioritize practical, application-driven learning by conducting both on-site and in-lab training sessions tailored to the specific needs of clinical laboratories and research institutions.

By leveraging our experience in implementing NGS workflows across multiple countries, we ensure that our training programs are adaptable and aligned with real-world diagnostic challenges. Our methodology emphasizes not only technical proficiency in Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing platforms but also the integration of NGS-based diagnostics into routine clinical practices.

In addition to training, we support laboratories in validating new molecular diagnostic assays and conducting clinical studies. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our External Quality Assurance (EQA) services, ensuring high standards in NGS workflows.

Through these efforts, we aim to bridge the gap between cutting-edge sequencing technologies and their effective application in clinical and research settings.

Services:

Our laboratory is fully equipped with Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencers, enabling our NGS experts to offer a range of NGS-related services for clinical laboratories and biotech/medical companies, including:

Past Experience:

As part of several multinational projects, we have conducted NGS training sessions and implemented NGS-based Mycobacterium tuberculosis diagnostic workflows in the following countries:

Kazakhstan, whole genome sequencing
2021–2023
Uzbekistan, targeted and whole genome sequencing
2022–2024
Tajikistan, targeted sequencing
2022–2024
Ukraine, targeted and whole genome sequencing
2021, 2024
Turkmenistan, seminars and training in molecular biology-based diagnostic techniques
2023
Additionally, since 2021, we have regularly conducted NGS seminars and training sessions at our home base in Gauting, Germany.

These are not limited to Mycobacterium tuberculosis NGS. For instance, in 2024, we successfully conducted training on metagenomic analysis of kumys (a fermented dairy product from Kyrgyzstan) and Influenza diagnostic testing in Germany.
